Mayor Gavin Newsom Hosts Reception for Sister Cities

Mayor Newsom Hosts Reception Honoring New San Francisco-Krakow Sister Cities Relationship

On October 21, 2009, Mayor Gavin Newsom and Chief of Protocol Charlotte Mailliard Shultz hosted a reception in San Francisco City Hall honoring the new sister cities relationship between San Francisco and Krakow with Honorary Co-Consuls for the Republic of Poland Tad Taube and Christopher Kerosky and about 100 other notable San Francisco community leaders. The San Francisco-Krakow sister cities relationship is the first such Eastern European relationship for San Francisco.

Anyone familiar with contemporary Poland can see that Poles have assumed the moral duty to remember the crimes of the Holocaust and to preserve the history of Jews in our country. We want honest knowledge of the past to serve as the basis of a strong Polish Jewish future.
