Polish Heroes Exhibit Opens at Hillel at Stanford, Oct 29- Dec 5, 2008
Polish Heroes: Those Who Rescued Jews is a compelling exhibition of photo-portraits by Chris Schwarz that honors the Righteous Among the Nations living in the Krakow region today.
This educational exhibit was organized by the Galicia Jewish Museum, the Auschwitz Jewish Museum, and the Polish/American/Jewish Alliance for Youth Action. By focusing on twenty-one recipients of the recognition award, it is a tribute to the more than 20,000 individuals honored by the Yad Vashem Holocaust Martyrs and Heroes Remembrance Authority in Israel. The featured portraits and stories give a face to the surviving heroes, as well all those who could not be included, the many who were not recognized, and others who were killed by the Nazis as a result of their efforts. Polish Heroes is a testament to all who courageously risked their own lives to save the lives of hundreds of Jews.
