Humanitarian needs can be ongoing or urgent. In this uniquely challenging moment, they are both. These needs demand a response from the entire community—from government, to local groups and organizations, to individuals, and certainly philanthropy as well.

Longstanding challenges like homelessness may benefit from strategic thinking and investment, while devastation of natural factors like fire or flood requires immediate attention. Taube Philanthropies helps to assist those who, often through no fault of their own, are unable to cope with their circumstances and need additional support.

HIGHLIGHTS

Roots Community Health Center

A $1.5 million grant to Roots Community Health Center enabled a pilot program that operates a trailer site for transitional workforce development and safe shelter for unhoused families in East Oakland.

Jewish Family and Children’s Services (JFCS) of San Francisco

A $50,000 grant to Jewish Family and Children’s Services of San Francisco supported their humanitarian services for thousands of residents forced to evacuate before the wind-blown forest fires that devastated portions of Marin and Sonoma counties in 2019.
